🤝 JeunesseMentorat des jeunes
Vetted mentors walk alongside unaccompanied minors — for school, life skills, and emotional support. Free for the mentee, for at least six months.
Who it is for
Unaccompanied minors aged 13–21 placed in NYC and the surrounding area — and the few young families who need an adult ally as they navigate school, legal, and health systems.
What this program is not: we do not promise immigration outcomes, money, or housing.
How it works
- Application — mentor and mentee fill in separate forms.
- Vetting — every mentor passes a background check and a child-safeguarding training.
- Matching — we match on language first, then borough, cultural background, and interests.
- Approval — a program coordinator validates the match.
- Mentoring — meetings every two weeks; ongoing milestone tracking.
- Evaluation — anonymized surveys at 30, 60, 90 days, and every six months.
Safety first
- Mandatory child-safeguarding training before the first meeting.
- Two-deep rule: no one-on-one meetings in non-public spaces without program approval.
- Reporting button on every page of the secure portal.
The secure portal is private and only accessible to approved mentors, mentees, and program coordinators. Mentor / mentee sign in →
