Happy Kids Happy Life supports unaccompanied minors and newly arrived West African families in New York City — with legal aid, ESL, mentorship, healthcare navigation, and the basic needs that make daily life possible.
What we believe
- Every child carries potential. Our job is to remove the barriers that hide it.
- Language is dignity. Services must reach people in the language they think and dream in.
- Privacy is protection. We collect the minimum information necessary, and we protect it like a life depends on it — because sometimes it does.
- Early intervention works. A small, well-timed support can change a young life forever.
Theory of change
- Meet families where they are — in their language, on their phone, near their home.
- Stabilize the immediate crisis: legal exposure, food, housing, school enrollment.
- Build skills: English, employment, parenting in a new system.
- Embed support: mentors and community ties that outlast any program cycle.
- Tell the story: data, testimonials, and policy advocacy to change the conditions newcomers face.
